Cake Lovers...Duncan Hines Classic Yellow or Betty Crocker Butter recipe yellow mix?

Yes- I know some of you are ready to defend scratch...I've tried it twice before but I don't have the money for an electric mixer/ wire rack/etc right now.

Which of these two cake mixes taste better? Should I add applesauce to the mix or vanilla pudding mix or will that mess up the flavor?

Thanks!Cake Lovers...Duncan Hines Classic Yellow or Betty Crocker Butter recipe yellow mix?
Duncan Hines has a finer texture, but tears easily and thus is not so good for decorating. Betty Crocker has a courser texture, which I prefer, and is better for decorating. I ALWAYS use apple sauce or baby food fruit in place of the oil and it always tastes really good, plus is lower in fat. If you want to try something really great, make a butter flavored Super Moist by Betty Crocker. Use baby food apricot instead of the oil. Put apricot preserves between the layers and finish it off with a mocha icing. Simply yummy!Cake Lovers...Duncan Hines Classic Yellow or Betty Crocker Butter recipe yellow mix?

Betty Crocker Butter Recipe!

I've put chocolate pudding in between the layers and then made a chocolate ganache icing. The hubby's favorite!
Of the box mixes, you can't go wrong with Duncan Hines. You don't even need to add anything to the mix besides what the box calls for.
