I want to make a mini cake for my boyfriend for valentine's day enough for two serving sizes, I would like my cake to be strawberry however the ingredients that I have in my kitchen are flour, baking soada, baking powder, eggs, oil, milk, and 2 bags of 12oz frozen strawberries.
Please guide me through this, I have never made a cake from scratch before but my plan is to make a basic cake and add a little of the strawberries to it so that it gives it a little pink color to it then when the cake is done baking and is cooled down I will poke little holes in the top of the cake and pour blended strawberries on the top so that it will soak in the cake and taste verry good also do i need to add any sugar or anything to the strawberries before i pour them on the cake? then I will make a little frosting with cool whip and again add a little of the strawberries to the cool whip for the coloring?
Can someone please give me a basic cake recipe that would be very helpful and maybe a strawberrie frosting recipe I would highly appreciate it nothin like making a cake with love put into it I hope you have a happy valentine's day.I need a modified strawberry cake recipe from scratch serving size for two people please!!!?
Sure -- you can do that. Yes, you will need to slice your strawberries into a bowl, add about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of sugar to them, then let the fruit and sugar react. After about 1/2 an hour (maybe up to one hour), you will have some excellent juice to pour over your cake.
I found a good basic recipe for you ... now, this recipe was originally written for 12 servings and has been recalculated to adjust to two servings. I suggest you prepare it in a 6'; cake pan (you can find this size just about anywhere, got mine at Bed Bath and Beyond). Keep a close eye on it, though, because it will bake quickly. After about 15 minutes, test it with the toothpick method every two - three minutes.
This recipe has a butter topping that could easily be flavored with your strawberries and be much more rich and decadent than the cool whip -- although cool whip would be good, too.
Happy Valentine's Day!
* 1/2 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
* 1/3 cup white sugar
* 1/8 teaspoon salt
* 1/8 teaspoon baking powder
* 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
* 2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons buttermilk
* 2 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons butter
* 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
* 1 egg
Butter sauce ingredients
* 2 tablespoons white sugar
* 2-3/4 teaspoons butter
* 1-1/2 teaspoons water
* 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Grease and flour a 6 inch cake pan.
2. In a bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and baking soda. Blend in buttermilk, butter, vanilla and egg. Beat for 3 minutes at medium speed. Pour batter into prepared pan.
3. Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until a wooden toothpick inserted into center of cake comes out clean. Prick holes in the still warm cake. Slowly pour strawberry sauce over cake. Let cake cool before removing from pan.
To Make Butter Sauce: In a saucepan combine the listed sauce ingredients. Cook over medium heat, until fully melted and combined, but do not boil.I need a modified strawberry cake recipe from scratch serving size for two people please!!!?
I would recommend looking on a cooking website such as cooks.com or allrecipes.com. The bonus with using allrecipes.com is they have user comments about each recipe AND you can scale recipes down to size(for just 2 people).
