Could i make this cake recipe into cupcakes?

I found this recipe on Y!A and want to know if I put the mixture into cupcake cups on a cupcake tray, would it still work? I'm assuming cake mix and cupcake mix are essentially the same thing, right?


Would I also be able to frost/ice these when cool?





Mexican Chocolate Cake





1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour


1 cup sugar


1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa


2 teaspoons cinnamon


1 teaspoon baking soda


1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (or ground mexican chili powder)


1/4 teaspoon salt


1 cup cold water


1/4 cup canola oil


1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar


1 tablespoon vanilla extract





Heat oven to 350*F.


Lightly coat an 8'; round cake pan with vegetable cooking spray.


Combine all cake ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir until smooth.


Pour into a pan and bake 25 to 30 minutes (until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean).


Cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.


Remove from pan and cool completely.Could i make this cake recipe into cupcakes?
Yes you can but watch the time because it does not take that long for cupcakes like 10 to 15 minutes maybe.Could i make this cake recipe into cupcakes?
Yes, cake recipes are the same for cupcakes. And yes, you can frost them or just sprinkle with powdered sugar.
