1st birthday party cake recipe needed?

i'm planning my son's 1st birthday party in sections so i'm not overwhelmed around that time of year since we'll be moving around that time unfortunately





so, i'm on the hunt for cake recipes for my son's very 1st taste of cake....someone gave me a good tip: make it an applesauce based cake, rather than sugar, and use ricotta in your frosting, it cuts back on their sugar so after they are done digging in they won't go Ape Wild and they will still go down about their regular time.....





so....i'm looking for a good recipe in full detail on cakes....any suggestions? got a recipe you've tried %26amp; loved? please share!!!! i'll be making cakes here soon when i go to the grocery store next so i'm going to buy tons of ingredients!!!!! 1st birthday party cake recipe needed?
It's his first birthday, let him go crazy for a few hours and give him the sugar! He probably doesn't get too much sugar as is, so this will be like a special treat for him for his special day.
