ThanksRecipe Help. How do l make Moist cake?
I have always replaced the oil for applesauce in my cake recipes ........ it makes it very moist plus it is alot healthier for you too ....... = )Recipe Help. How do l make Moist cake?
Make a simple syrup that you apply to your cooled cake with a basting brush.
Simple syrup recipe:
Equal parts (by weight if possible) of sugar and water.
Heat water, until lightly simmering, add sugar and stir just until dissolved. Allow it to cool.
**You can add an extract to flavor the syrup, or an alcohol, or a spice. Whatever you want. The simple syrup will add moisture to the cake, as well as help in preserving it better (lengthens the shelf life a little bit)
Things that I have found to help me make a moister cake are: adding a package of pudding mix to the cake batter, add a cup of sour cream or plain yogurt to the batter or substitute Natural/unsweetened applesauce for the oil in the recipe. I have also found that using butter instead of shortening helps as well.

Add an extra egg! Use milk in place of water! Use applesauce in place of oil! I wouldn't do all 3 of these together, I normally pick the extra egg .I always cook mine longer on a lower temp. For example if it calls for 30 mins at 375, I would do 350 degrees and then start checking every 2 minutes after the 30 min mark, insert toothpick and when it comes out clean it is done. It may take some time at first but once you know exactly what temp and time you will have a perfect cake everytime! :)
make sure your adding enough liquid and not baking it too long! It also helps to add grated apples, carrots, mashed bananas, apple sauce or yoghurt
heres a trick: add sour cream
sounds gross, but gives it the consistancy it sounds like you want
Show us your recipe. I like to use vegetable oil in mine.
substitute applesauce for your eggs
