This depends whether you come from a metric system country... If so, 1 cup is 2.5 dl. Get something that has a measure on it - a yoghurt tub, for example - and proceed accordingly...
Use a measuring cup, but if all else fails. take out empty cans..n remember..8oz equals 1 cup. so if u have a 16 ounce can..fill it up halfway.

But i usually use Coffee mugs..or tea glasses..they are usually 1 cup exactly.
Neither! You need a measuring cup to measure what ONE CUP is .. you can't just use any old cup.
A cup is usually 8 ounces.
250ml
Yes, definetely use a measuring cup, but if you don't have one, usually, the size of a regular coffee cup would work.

Even though, I wonder, how big is the cake as to require 1 cup of oil, it usually asks for 1/3 c.
i refuse to answer this, as all those other people have said what i was gonna say,so obviously i am not as clever as i thought, i am however a lot cleverer than you! so there nyah nyah nyah( well on cups at least i s'pose)
use a glass measuring cup with the numbers on it not a regular drinking glass and fill it to the 1 cup mark
neither, when it calls for a cup, it means the measurement(as in 4 cups to a quart and 4 quarts to a gallon)
It means 8 ounces. It doesn't matter what you put it in as long as it measures out to 8 ounces.
There are 2 types of measuring cups--liquid and dry. You'll want a liquid measuring cup--usually made of glass or plastic, and has a spout or lip for pouring. The measuring cup will be clear or translucent and have lines on the side that say ';1/2 cup,'; ';1 cup'; etc. Fill it to the ';1 cup'; line.
Neither. It is a measuring cup. Some glasses are 8 oz. (1 cup); some are 12 oz. (1 1/2 cup). Some are 8 1/4 oz. There is no standard that you can count on.
A cup the measurement. You know the little measuring cups that say 1 cup.
The material of the measuring cup is not important, however there is a difference between dry and liquid measuring cups. Dry measuring cups are usually in a nested set with sizes ranging from one cup to 1/8th cup. Liquid measuring cups are usually single cups with a handle and may measure up to two cups.

Hope that helps!
you use a measuring cup... it's not a large glass cup. you'll need to get a set of measuring cups from the store.
a cup is usually 8 ounces, which is a typical kitchen glass, and a little extra oil won't ruin a cake
8 ounces. A cup is a cup. They may look radically different, but if it is labeled one cup, it really is just one cup. Now you have to remember that all measuring is approximate no matter how exact your instrument is.
